Rods, Hollow Rods and Tubes made of Dezincification-Resistant (D.Z.R.) Brass

As a result of its superb properties brass has succeeded in becoming the leading material for fittings in potable water supply throughout the world.

There are, however, particularly unfavourable and aggressive water and operating conditions in some regions which can cause so-called dezincification of brass, e. g. caused by soft, chloride-containing water and high temperatures.

Diehl Metall was one of the first manufacturers to develop dezincification-resistant alloys which retain the usual properties of free-machining brass and the excellent, low cost workability into machined or forged parts respectively.

The dezincification-resistance of our brass is achieved with a specific chemical composition and special heat treatment (elimination of the dangerous ß-phase).

D.Z.R. brass in machining quality is marketed as DIEHL Alloy 410 for machined parts resp. DIEHL Alloy 402 as forging stock available in our production program.

Both alloys meet the requirements of the current EU drinking water directive. For further information you can download the brochure
"Brass in Potable Water Installation" which is supplied in PDF format.
